PRESTIGE SENDS NINE GYMNASTS TO NATIONALS
Qualifying to Nationals is no easy feat... After weeks of hard work and training, it all comes down to your performance at the Regional competition. Level 9 and 10 Regionals were held in Virginia April 9-11, 2010 where gymnasts from six states, PA, MD, VA, WV, DE, and NJ, competed for a place on the Pennsylvania National Team. Only the top seven gymnasts from each age group advance to Nationals.
Prestige Gymnastics, located in Lancaster, qualified six Level 9 and three Level 10 gymnasts to Nationals. The Level 9 gymnasts were: Aubree Horn, Cierra Groom, Carli Gohn, Brenna Rubinstein, Braelen Kralowentz, and Sabrina Garcie. Cecelia Lorenzen and Katelyn Rolad were alternates. The Level 10 gymnasts were: Shealyn Farley, Kaelin Ruoss, and Mary Licon. Aubrey Hine and Taylor Huey were alternates to the PA Team.
If qualifying to Nationals is no easy feat, then being a National medalist is even more difficult. At the Level 9 National Championships held in Charleston, WV April 30-May 2nd, Aubree Horn, a 9th grader, placed 3rd on balance beam, 2nd on vault, and 4th all-around. Carli Gohn, and 8th grader, placed 5th on beam. Bringing home a gold balance beam medal and the 1st place National All Around champion title was 7th grader Sabrina Garcia. Sabrina also placed 5th on bars, 3rd on floor, and 6th on vault. Placing first in the all around earned Sabrina an invitation to the Bella Karoli Ranch for a camp in late October.
The Level 10 National Championships were held in Dallas, TX May 7-9, 2010. At these championships Shealyn Farley, a 10th grader, earned a first place National medal on balance beam. She also placed 7th on vault, 5th on floor, 4th on bars, and, scoring a 38.425, earned a 2nd place all-around medal. Shealyn's silver all-around medal places her on the 2010 Jr. Olympic National Team. She will train at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO June 30-July 4th, 2010. Shealyn, based on her outstanding performance both at Regionals and Nationals, was also chosen to travel to the Netherlands October 12th-18th, 2010 to represent Region 7.
These gymnasts train between 25-30 hours/week. It's BIG news when all of their hard work pays off.

Prestige Gymnastic’s Own Shealyn Farley Competes in Nastia Liukin Cup
On Thursday, March 4th, our own Level 10 Shealyn Farley traveled to Worcester, Massachusetts to compete in the first ever Nastia Liukin Super Girl Cup. As you will remember, Nastia Liukin was the All Around Gymnastics Olympic gold medal winner from the 2008 Olympic Games.
Only thirty six gymnasts were selected to compete at this prestigious event based on their performance at selected major invitationals across the country. Shealyn was selected for winning first place All Around at the Chicago Style Invitational that was held in Chicago, Illinois this past February.
While in Worcester, Shealyn and her thirty five fellow competitors trained and attended both meetings and meals together, and were able to meet and spend time with Nastia herself. Despite an arena full of spectators and being televised live across the country, Shea was poised and confident. Shealyn showed her true competitive spirit at the Nastia Cup by having an excellent meet, finishing 9th Place All Around out of 36, and placing 3rd on Vault with an outstanding 9.70.
Congratulations Shealyn for a great meet, and being a excellent representative of your teammates and Prestige Gymnastics.
